Introduction

The AT&T Stadium is home to the Dallas Cowboys NFL team. Formerly known as Cowboys Stadium it is has a retractable roof and is situated in Arlington, Texas.

The stadium opened in May 2009 and cost a humongous $1.15 billion to build! This was almost double the original estimate of $650 million. The stadium was part-funded by increases in a number of local taxes with the city of Arlington providing $325 million in total.

Some people refer to the stadium as “Jerry World” after Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. 

There seems to be some dispute over the stadium’s capacity with being listed as low as 80,000. Wikipedia mentions an attendance of 138,084 for Super Bowl XLV But their own figures don’t seem to add up!

Different sources suggest that either 15,000 or 25,000 seats were added in an attempt to break the Super Bowl attendance record due to errors they fell short by around 1000 spectators.

Tickets aren’t cheap with some games only having $500 tickets available. It looks like single-game tickets sell out fast.

Initially known as the Cowboys Stadium the naming rights were sold to AT&T in 2013. The deal was worth around $18 million a year.

In addition to playing host to the Cowboys stadium also hosts the Cotton Bowl college game and also some Big 12 Championship Games.

AT&T Stadium has also hosted basketball such as the NCAA Men’s Final Four. The stadium has regularly been the venue for CONCACAF Gold cup soccer games and boxing matches including Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez.

Surprisingly the stadium hasn’t hosted too many concerts During its 12 years of operation only 29 events so far. Some of the bigger headline acts have included:
