Introduction
The Bridgestone Arena is the home of the Nashville Predators NHL team. The Predators were only formed in 1998 Along with three other teams in an expansion of the sport.
The city of Nashville paid around $25 million out of the $80 million initiation fee to join the league!
They also had to sell a minimum of 12,000 season tickets before being allowed to form a team.
Formerly the Nashville Arena, it was completed in 1996 and was first used by the Predators for the 1998–99 season. For ice hockey games there is a capacity of 17,159. Tickets start from as little as $11 and can be purchased through the official Predators site on Ticketmaster.
In addition to being the Predator’s home stadium, the Bridgestone Arena has hosted many other events. Both the US figure Skating Championships and the National Gymnastics Championships were held there shortly after the completion of the arena.
It was the home field for the Nashville Kats, a franchise in the Arena Football League (AFL). This was an indoor version of football played on a much smaller field. The league ran for around 30 years before closing its doors in 2019.
A regular home for basketball events it has a deal to host the Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament nine times between 2015 and 2025.
The NCAA basketball tournament has also been held at the Bridgestone on a number of occasions.
