Comerica Park is the home of Detroit Tigers MLB team. Detroit is one of a dozen US cities to have teams from the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL.
The stadium is sponsored by Comerica Bank which started life in Detroit although they have since moved headquarters to Dallas.
It was built to replace Tiger Stadium which had been the teams’ home since 1912. Comerica Park was just one part of a larger revitalization plan for downtown Detroit.
It cost $300 million to build the stadium although this was offset somewhat by the sponsorship deal with Comerica who have paid $66 million dollars for the naming rights for 30 years.
The stadium features nine tiger statues including one that is 15 feet high.
Comerica Park has hosted the World Series on two occasions and has even been the venue for soccer.
