Lambeau Field is home to the Green Bay Packers NFL team. Constructed in 1957 as city Stadium It is one of few NFL stadiums that haven’t sold the naming rights.
The stadium is named for Curley Lambeau one of the co-founders of the Packers in 1919. Mr. Lambeau died in the summer of 1965 and the stadium was renamed later that year. You might not realize there were calls to rename the original stadium long before the demise of their former coach.
Of course, the naming rights have been sold for each of the eight main gates but it is nice to see the team resist the temptation to cash in on such an obvious commercial opportunity.
With regular-season games taking place between September and January plus the potential for some playoff games you have plenty of chances to pay the city of Green Bay a visit.
